LED lighting and shop fit out in Coventry

The job

An existing store in Coventry was being completely revamped, with a new layout and additional floor space brought into use. The whole space needed stripping out and rebuilding, and the electrical installation had to be planned around a fixed opening date. New circuits were needed for a range of equipment going into the new layout, including simulators and various pieces of bar equipment, along with a full lighting scheme to suit the redesigned space.

What we did

We started with a full strip out of the existing installation, then set the new circuits out around the revised layout. Rather than running everything back from scratch, we recommended making use of as much of the existing lighting supply as possible and relocating the control boxes to suit the new floor plan. That kept the amount of new cabling down without compromising the finished installation. We also fitted a last man out switch, so the whole space can be shut down at the end of the day with one press rather than working through separate controls. From there we ran new supplies for the simulators and the bar equipment, installed new track lighting throughout, and fitted new LED RGBW tram lines running across the ceiling and through the seating areas.

Challenges

The programme allowed twelve weeks to complete the full store revamp ahead of the new release and grand opening, so the electrical work had to run alongside the other trades on site without holding anything up. Planning the circuits carefully and reusing the existing supplies where we could was a big part of keeping to that timescale.

The result

The finished space has a complete new lighting scheme, with track lighting through the store and RGBW LED tram lines picking out the ceiling lines and the seating. Every new piece of equipment has its own supply, and the last man out switch makes shutting the place down straightforward at the end of the day. Another commercial fit out finished in Coventry, and the customer was very pleased with the outcome.
